originally appearing on the #WCW project, the poignancy of "Chains" has grown with the many subsequent police shootings of unarmed black men around the country and ultimately the massacre of 9 black churchgoers at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina. "Chains" speaks to the young Black man in America who these terrifying instances of hatred and injustice may weigh upon. It gives him a voice of encouragement and strength where none may be heard elsewhere.
